This evening’s concert is once again very kindly sponsored by: -

Once again as in previous years, the Guernsey Concert Band is looking forward to a very busy time this year. Engagements already in the Diary for 2001 are at least four more major concerts in St James, the next being entitled, “An Evening At The Movies with the Guernsey Concert Band”, taking place on the 21st July.

We are booked to perform at Floral Guernsey once again. A further series of five more of our popular “Brass in the Park”, along with the Guernsey Concert Youth Band, once more sponsored by Island Coachways, and taking place in the beautiful setting of Candie Gardens, what better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon?

We have decided not to travel from the Island this year, as due to our rapid expansion, both instrument and membership-wise, we are actively seeking new rehearsal premises, (having just about outgrown our current one), and expect to have to spend quite a bit of our funds on the new premises, to get the property to the exacting acoustical standards required to keep the improvement impetus going for both the senior and the youth bands.

We are once more thankful to Close International Private Banking, for providing funds for the hire of St James, and hope that we can in some way repay them with musical support sometime during this year.

Although all of our performance dates for 2001 will appear in the next issue of our newsletter, our St James concert dates are as follow:- 21st July (Music from the Movies), 9th September (Royal Air Forces Association), 3rd November (Royal British Legion), 8th December (Christmas Concert).
