21st July 2007
Guernsey Concert Brass is proud this year to be able to associate our summer concert with the opening of the 2007 Town Carnival. A week of great atmosphere, fun and entertainment.
With entertainment being the keyword for the Town Carnival, we find ourselves being very involved this week, this evening’s concert “kicking off” our St Peter Port tour. Tomorrow, (Sunday 22nd) we are providing a FREE concert in the beautiful settings of Candie Gardens starting at 3pm (weather permitting), and on Friday evening, (27th), we shall be playing for the closing ceremony on the battlements of Castle Cornet.
A very busy, but enjoyable week in our events calendar.
We have chosen to tread a very successful, tried and tested route this evening with the choice of theme for this concert. Our prime aim is not only to give pleasure to our regular concert attendees, but also to provide an enjoyable evening of popular, and in the main, well-known music to our first time visitors with us here tonight, hence the reason for putting on a programme containing the music featured.
Our Musical Director makes no apologies in the fact that several of the pieces featured this evening are among some of his particular favourites, and music for this medium, amongst his personal taste in listening.
He has been known to say on several occasions, “We are here to entertain the audience, not ourselves”. We hope you will be suitably entertained this evening.
