Kings to KGV Move
Saturday 21st of October 2006 and the Guernsey Concert Brass are at Kings on the Bridge for a final tidy out before moving to their new premises.
Years worth of accumulated instruments, stands and music are removed from dusty shelves and loaded into equally dusty vans for transportation to their new home at the King George V Club House, where extraordinary lengths are being taken to accommodate the GCB, walls being knocked through and storage being built.
But what surprises are to be found within the walls of the Kings store? What hidden treasures are to be found amongst disused March Books? What horrors lie beneath layers of discarded Christmas decorations?
Well, have a look at the pics and see for yourself . . . . . . . .

Ken’s pickup stacked with the first load

Some of the instruments for the second load. Note the famous “Milden Bass” created when Dave’s momentum got the better of him one rehearsal!
The shrunken effigies of key GCB members. What dark rituals surround their use? Knitted by Tony Granthem’s Mum

Sadie watching Becky nonchalantly keeping the xylophone at bay with a chair
Becky continues her instrument audit with some of the lesser used items of percussion

Jack and Alan performing a precision

A relieved Alan extricating the Sherpa from the Kings car park after a 37 point turn

The back of the Cub with 3 timps, 2 travel timps, the Milden Bass and 9 drawers of music

Ken about to perform “Riverdance” on the back of the flat-bed

Apparently we have over 2000 scores now. Who’d have thought . . . .

Alan and Keith transporting some final items of percussion

And now at the KGV, Simon and Alan and a music table. You should see their scales!

Simon attacking the music with his usual energy

Michelle with scores Sing Sing Sing to Starwars

And finally Keith has the xylophone back under control in the new band room!
