Summer Concert 2006
July 15th, Saturday Night the Guernsey Concert Brass gave their Summer Concert at St James.
The program included some of the favourites of the summer including the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean, The Triumph of Right and of course Simply The Best for Encore before it goes back to the archive for a well earned rest.
Other pieces included The Millers Dance, featuring Leila Le Poidevin and Colin Solway on Tenor Horn and Solo Cornet, Valdres March featuring Paul Hurel on Soprano Eb Cornet and the world famous George Gershwin classic Rhapsody in Blue.
Also on the program were The Conquest of Paradise, Gaelic and Irish Blessings, Hava Nagila, Elegy from Guilbert Vinter's Entertainments, A Sullivan Fantasy arr. Gordon Langford, John Williams Liberty Bell, and the theme music from Cocoon. Star Trek First Contact had to be cut due to time constraints, but don't worry fans, it will be put on again later in the season.
The GCB also had the first use of their new music folders which were generously donated by Yorkshire Guernsey.
Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of this well attended and popular event, and especially congratulations to Simon who was presented with a plaque by the band for his forthcoming <cough> 25th birthday.
